References must be submitted for each applicant to be considered for candidacy. It is the applicant's responsibility to contact the reference and explain to him or her that you are applying to be a global shaper. Your references should be able to describe your potential as a future community leader and how your leadership will benefit the Global Shapers Community and local region. I understand that joining the Global Shapers Community is not an award but a commitment to improving the community. While I stand to benefit a great deal from joining the Global Shapers, I affirm that as a Portland Global Shaper, I will act in the interest of the community and strive to be a collaborative, community-driven leader. I will devote the time and resources necessary to support the Portland Hub and the Global Shapers Community’s objectives of community engagement and improving the state of the world.
